Okay, Hüsker Dü isn't listed, either, and I know they played there.

it's a list of who I saw (actually who I REMEMBER seeing, I am sure dozens of opening acts are gone from my brain), not who played there. Since I didn't move to Hoboken until '90, I missed all the cool stuff. The list includes all acts as billed (which is why, for example, Holsapple, Stamey, Holsapple & Stamey, and dB's get separate listings, because I saw all 4 of those iterations), plus anyone who guested/sat in with a billed act (aka The Hannukah category).
Re Sonic Youth, when Steve Shelley became one of the owners in '98 everyone was saying "awesome, Sonic Youth is going to play here all the time now!" They played once in 15 years (and I missed it).

I made it to Maxwell's for the Bar None show the week before it closed. It was a great show - for the three hours I was there. As always, it was a pain in the butt to get to and park, but I'll miss it. The club scene in NJ has croaked along with Maxwell's.

In fairly rapid succession (though not on the same day): Shirley Temple and Sid Caesar.

All kinds of people have been dropping lately .... Wayne Dyer was one of the most recent. I've read maybe half a dozen of his many books .... still working my way through the one on Taoism.
