Here's a nice letter to the editor written by John Legend to the NY Post in regards to the racist picture the printed: Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 7:02pm Dear Editor: [burp] Sincerely, John Legend John 'In His Own Mind' Legend needs to dig deep inside himself and grow up. Was he deeply wounded during most of the past decade when the president actually was compared to a chimp? It was a commonplace meme. [see above] Mr. Legend doesn't seem to care about that, but he is so very sensitive that he sees a cartoon reference to an in-the-news dead chimp and his mind sees a black man. Why? Because the current president wrote the recent 'stimulus' law mentioned in the cartoon? Well, the president didn't write it. If someone thought that the recent 'stimulus' law was horribly misguided, might he not joke that the law's mostly white creators were simian dolts like the theoretical thousand monkeys with a thousand typewriters eventually writing the plays of Shakespeare? (Is that monkeys/typewriters/Shakespeare reference racist, too? "What?! Are you trying to imply that black people can't write plays?!") Some people seem to be becoming so desperate to find evil enemies of the current president that they are willing to create them and demand that they apologize for their imagined sins.

I agree with Dan; usually you find racism exactly where you're looking for it. Especially when it's in a newspaper.

Once I heard that song "Save Room For My Love" and I couldn't help but imagine the video with Mister Legend as a waiter singing to a middle aged woman. He sort of looks like an African American Hardcore Boi in this photo.

Arguing with John Legend on this issue, during Black History Month no less? That's racist!

But the "Nutmeg" performance on the Stephen Colbert Christmas special was great (but not as great as Toby Keith).

Herb and DorothyA good news story about ordinary folks. Proof that marks can be made if you are relentless enough. But nice relentless.

Are you serious? That picture is plain as day racist. Even Rupert Murdoch apologized publicly. The president's comparison to a chimp was an insult to his intelligence, not his race. And as far as writing the bailout, Obama was a part of writing the plan, along with others. Lets pretend it wasn't intended to be racist. Who in their right mind would come up with it and put it out there for the whole world to see? This was submitted to an editor who gave it the OK. How fucking stupid can you be? Nope. No racism here:

regarding the ny post cartoon: no, nothing offensive at all. nothing to see here folks, if you were offended by it clearly you are a delusional nuisance. here's another example of a completely Not At All Offensive prank: ***** Apology over White House watermelon patch NBC LOS ALAMITOS, Calif -- Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose found a smashed watermelon at his office's doorstep Wednesday morning, a day after widespread published reports about his e-mailing a depiction of the White House with watermelons superimposed in the garden area.
Grose called police around 8:20 a.m. to Event Medical Services Inc. at 10765 Noel St. where officers saw "what appeared to be a watermelon" that was evidently thrown at the area outside the door, said Los Alamitos police Capt. Bruce McAlpine.
It caused no damage and police took an incident report, McAlpine said.
"Because there was no damage to the office, it's not considered a vandalism," he said.
There do not appear to be any witnesses, McAlpine said.
Grose sent the e-mail, titled "No Easter egg hunt this year," from his personal account, over the weekend to community volunteer Keyanus Price, a black woman who said she found it racist and offensive. ...
Grose called Price to apologize to her and e-mailed her an apology, saying he did not intend to be offensive. He also apologized to her boss and members of the City Council.

"A vandalism"? Police captain? What would be the plural of a vandalism, Capt. McAlpine? "Vandalisms"?
Unbelievable. And I thought we were fucked.
