The author is hosting an episode of Nova based on the book tonight on PBS. Entertaining character. He's great. He's a regular on the Daily Show and Colbert Report.

About his song "Pluto", Robbie has written, "Found not to be the biggest object in its neighborhood, poor little Pluto was cast off in 2006 and made into a 'dwarf planet.' Sentimental pop-song treatments of astronomical news are all too rare...so please treasure this song." When 50-Vc. Doberman eventually gets re-released on vinyl with bonus tracks, I hope that he tackles the subject of poor Azendohsaurus madagaskarensis and its demotion in status from dinosaur to mere "ancient reptile".

Time to check in how Doberman has aged with all of you. 3+ years since its release, I have listened to chunks of it as much if not more than anything else I own. I continue to be blown away by the songwriting and musicianship. It is such an odd duck at 50 songs, $35, multi-genre, download only that only the faithful (and those close to the faithful who get to hear how great this guy Robbie Fulks is) have partaken. Too bad, this is some of his best work. Great "album", tremendous fun. Anybody with me?

I recently contacted Robbie to ask if 50-vc Doberman might be reincarnated and put on Bandcamp. He says it he considers the songs retired and doesn't plan to re-up them. I had assumed when I bought Revenge of the Doberman albums that there was some overlap, but I've learned all these years later, that they are completely different albums. Can anyone help out a fellow Fulks fan who just plain didn't have the $ for 50-vc Doberman when it was released and would still love to hear it? I have got the sampler tracks, but reading about all the other songs in this thread makes me long for it even more!
