In celebration of the new board, I'm listening to Robbie's version of "Jimmy Carter Says Yes."

Some of it is great and some of it is irritating. But I would feel the same way about the originals, since there's a fair bit of Bitches Brew and later material. But the cover is totally swell.

Picked it up this weekend and have listened to about three-quarters of it (it's two discs), some pretty good stuff scattered throughout from what I've heard so far, although it also has strongly reaffirmed my opinion that The Decemberists suck. And why Dear God must it contain a version of "Amazing Grace"? Does anyone on the planet ever need to hear that song again? Addendum: Amazon.com reviewer "tofias" is more enthusiastic than I: If you like music and/or hate AIDS you should stop reading and buy this album. Addendum II: Meanwhile, over in the UK, Ben Thompson of The Observer puts in his 2p: This 20th album in the Red Hot … series of Aids awareness fundraisers is a virtual who's who of the US indie establishment. But years of musical inbreeding have taken their toll on this notional aristocracy, and for every true blue-blood such as Sufjan Stevens or Antony (whose take on Dylan is especially inspired), there's a veritable charabanc of workshy fops.

Starting to work my way through the 50 -vc Doberman now that it's downloaded. I'm still waiting on mine. This would never have happened on the old site.
