Heard an interesting version of one of my favorite Townes Van Zandt songs Lungs. Done by Steve Earle. My husband likes it, I'm not so sure I do. You can hear it here: www.myspace.com/steveearlemusicEdited to note that right now the song is unavailable. I'll leave the link in case it becomes available later. Edited again: song is now available.

Neko Case - Middle Cyclone How is that new Neko? Is there really a half-hour recording of forest sounds at the end of it? It got slated in one of the monthlies because of that. I'd have thought that something like that would be a silly "hidden" track or something.

Yes, it's the last track. I haven't gotten to it yet. I think some songs are too short, yet we get a half-hour of nature sounds.

Mostly I'm hearing a damn McDonalds ad running through my head. The one with the fake fish singing about the Filet of Fish. Aaarrggghhhh.

Listen here. You can't download the 30 odd minutes of crickets - try to contain your disappointment . I love the cover of Sparks' "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth"!

I've always loved her voice and some of her stuff with the New Pornographers, but the songs of hers I've heard never really stuck with me. After reading several glowing reviews and seeing she covered both Sparks and Harry Nilsson on the new one, I was pretty anxious to get it. Her cover of Dylan's "Buckets of Rain" a few years ago was excellent.

I think it's Furnace Room Lullaby). (*South Tacoma Way and Thrice All American)
