HA, I was just reading Terry Andersons blog and he was just suggesting optional uses for hot-dog buns, never got that one.

Great pics, especially the dog in sunglasses, dog in sundress, and the scotty in bunny ears.

Close shave in cottage country last weekend....
Ice Breaking News
Just back from our cottage and 2009’s Good Friday/Easter weekend. Had an extremely harrowing experience with our 12.7 pound, 13-1/2-month-old escape artist. Bright and early on Friday morning I opened the front door and Sophie lurched forward causing me to lose grip of her leash. Freedom! Off she darted towards our neighbor’s cottage with me in my best early morning approximation of hot pursuit. Past the cottage and across the snow-covered lawn towards the dock and then … my heart fell … Sophie ran out onto the breaking up lake. It was mid-April and the ice fishing huts had long been removed to safety. My anguished cries intensified … couldn’t anyone else hear me? She came back to the shore then thought better of it and struck out for the middle of the lake. She looked back … (“Why isn’t Davy coming?”) … she returned, once again crossing the areas of breakup where only the thinnest veneer of ice separated the chilly morning air from the frigid depths below. Sophie made it to shore and we had a further chase amongst the deep snow, exposed rocks and the random trees and branches … out past the Hogarths’ boathouse … I lost sight of her a couple of times but she inevitably popped up (presumably in hopes of keeping up this game indefinitely) … at about the time that I’d run out of lies, sticks and whatever lurked in my pocket (a scrunched up plastic grocery bag) I managed to get close enough to plant a shoe on the end of Sophie’s leash and I had her … with a much better grip than I’d started the morning with. We went home. Both breathing rather heavily.
A little later I tested the ice with some snowballs. Some went through while others sped easily over the ice. It was like running through a minefield … with Sophie missing all the mines. Had she gone through that would likely have been the last we’d ever have seen of her. It was a Good Friday after all.

Sophie and Clyde (Bonnie was AWOL)... Yeah, I know. We're still sourcing out a vaguely local groomer who does wire fox terriers.

I'm thinking of getting a second dog to keep Meadow company. She is dying to play with the kitties, who will have no part of her. She's big (about 70 lbs) and can be very needy. She looks so sad when the cats run away from her. I was thinking a Pug would be a perfect breed as a friend for her. Any ideas on that?

I think a small breed of any sort would be a great idea. I notice how cute the big dogs play with the small ones at the dog park I take Biscuit to. Biscuit's favorite playmate at the park is a puggle, and her best friend in my condo building is a cocker spaniel. I wish you would post a pic of Meadow - she sounds so sweet, I'd love to see her. My cats hated Biscuit when I first got her, because she always wanted to chase them to play. Now they all get along great. How long have you had your cats? Maybe they'll warm up to Meadow after they've lived with her longer. It took my cats over a year, but they got there. I hope yours will, too. I hate for your baby to feel rejected.
