New Chris Isaak - Mr. LuckyFun fact: Chris Isaak and I are from the same town (Stockton, Calif), and we went to the same high school. In fact, we are practically identical, except I have no musical ability, and I'm pretty sure Chris' karma score is over -3.

I guess it's crass self promotion, but we just posted a new original called Surfin' Superhero on my OPR myspace site. It's live at a practice, and the bass player Brian wrote and sang it. He's like 24- moved to Nashville, plays a great bass. Just click the little house under me picture.

Yeah, I think she's hot enough to offset having papaw/me in the band!

Listened to the new Neko Case album last night, I like it, it's a little more rocking than the last one and the lyrics aren't so graduate-seminar-in-poetry-esque. I do wish, however, that now that she's been writing songs all by herself for a while she'll make it a priority on coming up with ones you can actually hum.
Also, the marketer in me has to call "Publicity Stunt!" when I see one, and the "Piano Orchestra" that has been mentioned in every single write-up I have seen about this record is definitely a publicity stunt, it appears on three songs and is practically inaudible on two of them and is window dressing on the third.

New Chris Isaak - Mr. LuckyFavorite quote from this week's Flight of The Conchords: "Women like three things: men in kilts, Southern Comfort, and Chris Isaak's Wicked Game"

The Sacred Shakers - s/t Willie and the Wheel
I'd be listening to more new stuff if tower.com was more honest about their shipping practices. But they are the cheapest deal around.

Just gotten hold of the New Decemberists CD "Hazards of Love". Their version of "Annan Water" is ....different.....not particularly bad. Sounds like Morrissey goes folk.

Currently listening to Metal Machine Music. Trying to qualify for Facebook's Survivors of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music group, for people who have listened to all four sides in one sitting. I'm only on side 1, and so far it's making me want to scalp myself.
